Real stockings made out of real fabric and everything. It was time.
This garland was quick and easy. I used the Cricut to cut out letters from cute scrapbooking paper and then laminated them (by hand unfortunately because my laminator died on the first letter...I cried real tears of sadness to see it's demise. I had to be careful to not let my tears fall on the exposed, UN-laminated paper.)
I have wanted to be able to decorate the girls' rooms all cute for some time and never quite felt the inspiration to do so since we have rented for so long. I would love to paint but since we have been temporary so often I just have never really done much. But I had the idea to use a lot of photos in their room and this is what I came up with. I made a collage of pictures of them (and some of their sisters and parents) and decoupaged them on balsa wood letters. The frames turned out a bit too large but overall I was happy with the results. Plus, I put a couple of duplicate pictures on both of their letters so they can play the "do you have a..." game that my roomy sister Sarah and I used to play as kids.
Still lacking a little something...maybe vinyl lettering around the outside of the frames?
I am also taking all of our random little pillows from around the house (travel pillows and such) and recovering them as cute little throw pillows for all of their beds. These are the only ones I have finished so far but I like them....now if only they would make their beds...
A little lamp embellishment never hurt.
Their rooms are small in this house and since they are all sharing (two and two) I have had a hard time with their space feeling cramped. I feel like their rooms still lack something so I will continue to add a bit here and there...maybe curtains to hide the bizarre blue shades...and I wish I could do something about their compulsive need to stick things in their walls with thumb tacs and Abby's ever present hoarding issue...but afterall, they are kids and I want them to have "their space" so I'll let it slide....but the dirty underwear under the bed I must insist be taken care of, at least every couple of days.
